Foreign Funding Case against PTI

Election Commission of Pakistan in response to the application submitted by the joint opposition’s Rahber committee on Wednesday has decided to take up the foreign funding case against the PTI on daily basis.

Convener of the Rahber Committee Akram khan Duranni on Tuesday while announcing the end of protests announced that an application will be submitted to the Election Commission to take up the foreign funding case against the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf on daily basis.

 

Foreign funding case against PTI was filed in 2014 by one of its founding member Akbar S.Baber who claimed that 3 million $ were illegally collected through two offshore companies and the fund was transferred through hundi in the banks of the PTI Employees. The case is pending for last five years.

Same types of cases are pending against Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan People’s Party.

Election commission of Pakistan has summoned all (Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan People’s Party) on November 26 before the scrutiny committee.

In response to this development Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured the party leaders to not worry about the case.  Prime Minister Imran Khan has been quoted to said that “ party members should not worry about the foreign funding case because party funds have already been audited and their reports have been presented before the court.”

Jamiyat ulma-e-Islam (F) on Tuesday ended their Plan “B” in which protests and sit downs across the country were ended. It was decided that the joint opposition on Wednesday will demonstrate a protest in front of the election commission and will file an application regarding the foreign funding case which was pending against the PTI.
