National accountability bureau chairman while addressing the international anti-corruption day gathering announced that the references have been prepared against those who have been involved in the corruption in Peshawar BRT and Malam jaba resort project.
In the gathering President Dr Arif Alvi, Speaker National Assembly Aasd Qaiser and many federal ministers were also present.
Pakistan Muslim League (N) and PPP often criticized NAB on for not taking action in these projects and termed the NAB actions as “selected accountability”. Peshawar BRT and Malam Jaba resort project were launched by the current ruling party Pakistan Tahreek E Insaf in its last government.
Current chief minister of KPK Mehmood Khan and Provincial Minister Atif Khan have been accused of corruption in the Malam Jaba Projects. In Malam Jaba a tourist spot in swat government illegally leased 275 acres land for 33 years which belongs to the forest department.
Peshawar BRT is also another flag ship project of the PTI government which was to be completed in six months but has not been completed yet. Project has been delayed for over a year now and its cost has gone from 17 billion to 90 billion.
Chairman said that references are ready but because of the stay order in both cases NAB is unable to file them. Chairman also highlighted the fact that NAB since its creation has recovered 382 Billion.
